These are not flashback arrestors and should not be used as a standalone for defense against flashbacks.
They are check s that should be used in combination with flashback arrestors. They are only part of a flashback prevention system. Check s are a first line ofdefense against flashbacks.
Installed at the torch, they are meant to protect your hoses and provide some protection against flashbacks. Flashback arrestors must also be installed at the regulators in combination with these check s.

Note:
Never connect a torch to acetylene and oxygen tanks without installing a set of flashback arrestors in the hoses at the regulators and a check set at the torch handle. Without these safety devices, it is possible a flash can occur within the hose, and ultimately follow back into the tanks, causing an explosion. This would be an extremely rare occurrence, but check s & flashback arrestors will make it a "never" occurrence. Check s are only a first line ofdefense and may not ultimately stop a flash back. Only the flashback arrestors will.
